Across the Pond

And, we're off again!  This time to London (to hang with Doctor Who) with a Paris kicker at the end.

We're flying out of Toronto--a first for us.  Home to cool water sculptures, multi-cultural everything & pretty good burgers!  Plus, the tv at our gate is on a French Canadienne station. So, we're good to go!

We woke up in Mykonos to a blue world. Mykonos was a tender port, so we lined up for tickets to take these small boats from the Koningsdam to the old port of Mykonos.  Not knowing exactly how long it would take, we allowed plenty of margin for error and got the port well in advance of our tour. The wind was whipping across the port, making the day cool and clear. Since we were early, we popped into a port cafe for a quick pitstop.  The server seated us with a gracious smile, which vanished when she learned only one of us was ordering a meal.  She took away the other placemats and her smile.  Didn't faze us. Another August in Toronto

If it's the end of August, we're nerding it up in Toronto at FanExpo.  This is our third year making the trek, and it gets bigger each time.  Our first stop is always the LEGO booth, which is always filled with cool little giveaways and amazing LEGO sculptures. One of the best things about FE is the ongoing cosplay.  In the Adventure Time ice palace, we found this guy ... Sharknado!  Epic cosplay!  He was with his mom, who was passing out gummy sharks.  And, yes, reader, we took them--from a total stranger--and ate them :) No sighting of the Ice King, but did find these two semi-royals.  Note the LSP hat :) Across the way was a nice Boxtrolls exhibit.  They actually had out a cheese tray, but we declined on that :) FE brings everyone together ... even the supposed Warner Bros enemies Superman and Batman.  Let's imagine them here talking about poutine. See You in Hall Eh

If you're a true Comic-Con geek, you know Hall H is San Diego's ground zero.  Before this year, there was no equivalent at FanExpo ... this was either remedied or ruined by the addition of Room 105.  This massive space held 3000 crazed fans, and left another 3000 out in the hallway to riot for not getting in to see the back to back fandemonium that was the Walking Dead panel and Nathan Fillion one-two punch. I'll be honest, I've never seen the Walking Dead and don't care to, but when we learned that they wouldn't be clearing the room between the two Q&A's, we got right in line to see the WD.  And, it was a line to behold, about 5 people wide and snaking throughout the convention center.  For the record, Penn was "The Doctor Finn" (a Doctor Who/Adventure Time mashup that won great praise from fellow nerdists), and Harper was a cute Scribblenaut with My Little Pony leanings.   We got in the room only to experience what is already g...
