Let the Geeking Begin

So we dropped our bags at the hotel and headed up the block to catch the last few hours of Thursday's opening of the Expo.

We walked right into the Doctor Who Canada display, full of exterminating Daleks and the inside and outside of a Tardis.  Plus, if you look closely enough, you'll find Mr. Broadchurch (DaveTen) and a Weeping Angel, but thanks to the Silence, you'll forget it all.





As soon as we hit the main hall, we went straight to the Lego booth, which did not disappoint!






And, FanExpo held treats for My Little Pony.  She got to meet Effie Trinket.


Faced Off with the Doctor and Oswin.


And found the booth of her favorite Japanese vinyl store: Mindzai!  They actually remembered us--see what buying mustache labbits and catcus cats will do for you :)


Penn found the new Lego Marvel Heroes video game and fell into a new universe.





And, it was the end of our first Dark (K)Night at the Expo.  Whew!

Our hotel has a theme of music that runs from the lobby through the elevators and into the rooms. Lyrics line the walls in tasteful handwriting. It gives the place a very welcoming, creative vibe. On our second morning in Dublin, we set off around brunch time for the other breakfast place recommended by our hotel, Lemon Jelly . There Will Be Glaciers

After our port visits for the past few days, we were on to Glacier Bay.  According to our Freestyle Daily, we'd be arriving at the bay around 7:15 am, so I was up and out on deck early in anticipation.  There weren't many of us, and there wasn't much to see.  The skies were grey and the clouds were low--making for some dramatically moody photos but no glaciers were in sight. While the ship is in Glacier Bay, US Park Rangers are on board to answer questions, share information, and offer commentary about the glacier and the environment that produced it.  They tendered onto the ship early in the morning and set up shop in one of the lounges.  The map below shows the route we took into and out of the bay. Virtual Who

Sunday morning, and Harper (aka Lumpy Space Nesmith ) and Penn (aka the 11th Doctor) made their way to the Convention Center for the last time. Penn was in his element and got asked to join a few photos in this ensemble :) He even charmed Stormtroopers. We had basically bypassed the North Building each day, using it just for panels or to cross over to the South.  So, on our last day, we spent a bit of time there.  First, reconnecting with the always amazing and generous Doctor Who Society of Canada.  They are great people who always bring it for FE!  As this collection of homemade Daleks shows.
